Sweet n Sour Chicken

I would be sharing one of my favorite Chinese food which is sweet and sour recipe but instead of using pork I used chicken instead. You can also opt for fish. So if you’re ready let’s get started!

For frying chicken:
1 kg chicken breast cubed
½ c flour
2 cups cooking oil
1 tbsp salt
For the sauce:
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 small onion chopped
1 small red bell pepper, sliced diagonally
1 small green bell pepper, sliced diagonally
1 small carrots, sliced diagonally
2 tbsp catsup
2 tbsp soy sauce
½ c water
115 g pineapple tidbits
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp cornstarch

For Frying Chicken
1. In a bowl, mix chicken breast salt and flour
2. Heat cooking oil in a pan and deep fry chicken until golden brown
3. Set aside
For sauce
1. Dilute cornstarch in water and set aside
2. In a small sauce pan heat oil
3. Sauté onion, red and green bell pepper and carrots
4. Add catsup, soy sauce, pineapple syrup and vinegar bring to gentle boil
5. Add pineapple tidbits, add cornstarch and water mixture
6. Stir until sauce thickens
7. Pour over fried chicken
8. Serve with rice
Ingredients listed above can be adjusted to suit your taste. Sugar can be added to the recipe if you want a sweeter sauce. Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think.
